Test of Taste
I figured out a foolproof method of determining whether or not someone has horrible taste.
1. Do you like movies with the actor Jason Statham starring as a lead role?
A. Yes.
B. No.
If you answered “Yes”, then you can rest easy, as you have absolutely no taste whatsoever. Jason Statham is the most horrifyingly bad thing to happen to cinema since J.J. Abrams crawled out of the ocean with a god damned shakey cam and cgi rig. I hate Jason Statham with an unbridled passion.
Why, I hear you ask? The accent. If you discard the fact that he has “starred” in row after row of formulaic action thriller drek, somehow PRETENDING to be a sex symbol, the accent stands out as the most hideous grating thing I’ve ever had the displeasure to aurally receive. Normally, I love English accents. Posh, Cockney, West Country, Scouse, hell, even Welsh with its ninety-five useless “L’s”. But whatever the hell Statham is spitting out of his face I do not like.
When Statham talks, it…it sounds like someone gave the voice actor of the recent Beowulf a peanut butter sandwich with razor blades in it. “MAOIH nayme is Chefv CHAYE-oss.” Try saying that with your mouth displaying as many possible teeth as you can while uttering the syllables and you’ve pretty much got it down, except for the unjustified confidence that borders on the Kevin Federline side of things. Ugh.

And now for something completely different…
I’m entertaining my first offer since departing SOE. That was certainly quick! Quicker than I had hoped for, in fact. It is refreshing to feel wanted and acknowledged. I’m immensely gratified by the well-wishes and luck bestowed upon me by the SWG community after leaving, and that karmic ju-ju totally has me coasting on a wave of good vibes. Goodness, I fly to Cali for a few days and I’m already talking like them.
In non-career related news, I’m almost finished reading “Wicked”, which is a major recommend to anyone like me who has ever rooted for the villain in a movie. It’s a well-written book about the Land of Oz and the adventures of the Wicked Witch of the West from her perspective. I eventually plan on seeing the musical play, but for now the book will do.
Been watching a lot of Little Britain, which is absolutely hilarious. I was kind’ve surprised to find South Park ripping them off with the “biddy” bit in their recent episode. Britain, Britain, Britain! Officially opened by the Queen in 1972! Too funny.

EA Buys BioWare
As mentioned over at Scott’s, EA buys BioWare. Reduces its Essence rating by .5 and adds +2 to STR.
Forgive the Shadowrun pun, had to! This looks really very interesting, actually. BioWare must have made quite an impression on EA for them to have shelled out so much for it and Pandemic. It’s going to be intriguing watching to see what comes of the purchase, and all the changing of the guard that usually goes on during acquisitions like this. All three are very solid companies and have been putting out some really awesome games recently. As a gamer, I really hope the buyout serves to improve the line-up at the local EB.

Smell the Ego
A self-named blog on a self-named domain! *gasp* Self-named blogs drip with ego, I know. Like I totally need any more of that. But in a sea of Raph Kosters and Grimwells, I thought, what the hey! At least I’m not setting precedence! Hah!
So, in essence, this will be a slightly more personal blog, industry-style, than my previous writings at OverModerated. I’d like to keep the haughty indignance of random academia and the studious insights on Community Management to the clean halls of the hallowed (but infrequently used) OverModerated blog. Of course, that saves this particular section of the web for other shenanigans. Namely - my random thoughts on the latest news and developments in the industry. As a caveat, the views expressed in this blog are mine, and mine alone and hopefully won’t get me fired. Free speech is all the vogue this fall, so this blog is Rated R, so “cock” and “fuck” are open-season, but most likely will only be seen used in an expressive-intellectual Penny Arcade / Boondock Saints sort’ve way.
Expect to see random thought processes (excluding work-related ones) arrive soundly here. If you are here about work, catch me on the boards instead. Anything deep (as-if!) I might say about Community Management or SWG will be kept over at OverModerated. So, ’nuff said, on with the bloggitation!
